Earlier, last year Kidambi had missed the chance to become No. 1 in the world ranking due to his injury. Though Prakash padukone was regarded as the top ranked world player when computer ranking system was not there, now Kidambi has become the first Indian male shuttler to become no. 1 player in the world.

Based from Andhra Pradesh, Srikanth won 4 Super series titles- Indonesia, Australia, Denmark and France last year. He is the only 4th player in the world to win these 4 super series titles.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy also jumped a place to stand on 11th position in the BWF World Ranking table. Both Srikanth and Prannoy have reached the quarterfinals of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2018 taking place in Gold Coast.
