Google unveiled the first developer preview of the upcoming operating system for smartphones, Android P. Android P developer preview shows Google’s visual refresh update.
With the early build of Android P, seems like that more changes will be done. One thing is clear that with Android P, google is taking it to more colorful direction.
As per expectation, Android P’s next developer preview will be available in May. Here’s what’s new in today’s initial release:
The first update is that the clock moves to the left
Google has moved the clock from right to the left side of the status bar. The new OS is optimized for notches, so it set notifications right next to the time.
When you slide down the notification tray, it will show up to 4 app icons.
Colorful Settings Menu
Google is changing the setting menu with every new Android Update. In Android P, icons are in the right side of Network, Display, Battery, etc. the actual layout is almost similar but Oreo’s grayscale icons are replaced with colorful circles.
Quick Settings Pulldown
Corners have been rounded off and settings icons are inside circles that take on a colored accent when enabled or go gray when switched off.
Android P’s dock which contains apps and google search bar has got cloudy background. So that you can start everything on your home screen. There is a microphone icon to the right inside the search bar for one-tap access.
Power Button Can Take a Screenshot
The Power button can take screenshot now. If the normal button combo is not working, you can hold power button and tap the screenshot button. It will capture screenshot.
The Volume Slider shrinks and moves to Right side
Google relocated the power options in Oreo update. Now they are moving software volume slider. Tapping the Calls / Ring button switches between ring, vibrate, and silent ringer.
Google has used the fonts that it uses for Pixel’s branding. It is in more places throughout the system. It’s officially called Product Sans fonts.
