South Korean Automobile company Kia Motors is ready to launch their first ‘Made in India’ car by Mid-2019 from Andhra Pradesh plant. Kia Motors is South Korea’s oldest automobile manufacturer.
Kia Motors had signed an MoU with Andhra Pradesh government during April 2017 for a manufacturing facility. With this first plant in India, the company will invest $2 billion to produce 3,00,000 units per year with an ecosystem.
Recently at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, the CEO of Kia Motors announced that with initial investment of $1.1 billion, they will begin production from mid-2019. The company will roll out its first car with and SUV SP concept and company also showcased it at the auto expo.
Anantapur plant of Kia Motors will be of area 214-hectare and also provide jobs to 3000 locals. Kia Motors is also planning to invest about $2 billion by 2021 and provide 10,000 jobs for manufacturing different brands.
Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur plant is the 15th global manufacturing plant and it may be the largest for Kia Motors. Currently, Kia Motors is producing more than 2.7 million vehicles at 14 manufacturing and assembly plants in 5 countries.
At the Anantapur plant, Kia Motors will also create ecosystem along with a township, training center, etc.
Kia Motors said in a statement, “Kia Motors India will soon start recruiting the 3,000 employees needed to operate the plant.”
