Japanese automaker Honda penned their strategy for the Indian market. Honda Cars India will launch 6 new car models in next 3 years. Company confirmed this news during the Tokyo Motors Show 2017.
Honda will launch some current models’ makeover and some new models in India in next 3 years.
New Honda CR-V:
Petrol version of Honda CR-V will have i-VTEC 2.4-litre engine while the diesel engine will be 1.6-litre i-DTEC. Petrol model will have 190hp while diesel engine will have 158hp. It is also expected that company will couple with ZF9-speed automatic gearbox.
New Honda HR-V-
Recently launched Jeep Compass became successful in India and due to that Honda have to bring HR-V in India. Honda HR-V will bridge the gap between BR-V and CR-V.
The all new HR-V price can be in the range of Rs 15 to 20 lakh. It will give competition to Hyundai Tucson.
HR-V will be powered by 1.8-litre in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine with a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. In India, Honda may bring 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine for HR-V.
New Honda Civic-
Last year Company tested new Honda Civic sedan in India and it is expected to be launched in 2018 in India. Company launched the first Honda Civic in 2006 in India but then discontinued it in 2012 due to poor sales.
With the new model of Civic, Honda is aiming annual sale of 30000 units. Completely Knock Down unit, Civic will take on Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta in India.
Honda is going to launch its compact sedan Amaze second generation. As per reports the work on new Amaze has been completed almost at Company’s base in Thailand. In India, Company will launch the next-gen Amaze at the Auto Expo 2018.
10th generation Honda Accord-
Honda unveiled its 9th gen Accord sedan at the Auto Expo 2016 and launched in India in October 2016. Now, Company will launch the 10th gen Sedan Accord in international market.
10th gen Honda Accord may enter the Indian market in 2019.
New City/ City Hybrid-
Honda has started working on the next-gen Honda city sedan. It is expected to be the last model of the brand to be launched in this decade in India. Company may also launch the hybrid version of the new City.
As per reports, the New City will be powered by 1.5-litre in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine. It will have similar hybrid system as on the Accord hybrid.
