Reserve Bank of India will soon launch new Rs 10 currency note in Chocolate Brown color. The new Rs 10 note with the Mahatma Gandhi series will have a photo of the Konark Sun Temple of Orissa.
As per the sources, the RBI has already printed around 1 billion notes of Rs 10. Last week Central Government approved the design for the currency note. Earlier RBI had changed the design of Rs 10 note in 2005.
In August 2017, RBI had launched Rs 200 and Rs 50 currency notes under the Mahatma Gandhi series. RBI is relaunching the Rs 10 note in a new design as Government wants to get rid of counterfeiting.
On November 8, 2016 PM Modi announced demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes which was approx. 86% amount of the currency in circulation of Rs 17.9 trillion.
After that, RBI has launched the new Rs 2000 notes and redesigned Rs 500 notes. RBI also launched Rs 200 note and redesigned Rs 50 note.
