On Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspected his home state Gujarat’s flood affected areas. He announced a Rs 500 crore relief fund for Gujarat state after his aerial survey. Still heavy rain is continued in most parts of India and Gujarat.
As per latest statics, floods in Gujarat killed total of 82 people in the state. Rescue team is working day and night to save as many as possible people in submerged towns and villages.
Gujarat’s neighbor state Rajasthan is also affected with flood where total of 6 people died. Rain waters have also caused severe flooding and damage in West Bengal and Odisha.
Yesterday evening PM Modi reached Ahmedabad airport where he first held the high-level meeting with state CM and other ministers and analyzed the situation. Then he went for aerial survey of the state with CM Rupani.
Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for those who killed and Rs 50000 for those who injured in flood from the PM’s National Relief Fund.
PM Modi tweeted,
“Everything possible will be done to help the farmers, who suffer immensely due to floods… While reviewing the situation, I could see the Government of Gujarat responded to the flood situation quite swiftly,”
Banaskantha and Patan are the most affected areas. For last 36 hours there is heavy rain continue in Banaskantha. There was 15 to 18 inches of rainfall recorded between Monday and Tuesday morning.
In the last 24 hours, rescue team shifted more than 50000 people to safe places in Banaskantha and Patan district. 4 IAF helicopters, 2 army columns and 18 teams of NDRF have been deployed for rescue.
Even more than 7 lakh food packets have been air dropped in the affected areas. As on now, more than 370 roads, 6 national highways and 20 state highways are inundated.
As on today, 26 July 2017, MeT department predicts heavy rain for four more days in Gujarat. Here check out the roads which are closed in Gujarat state:
