The Apex court, Supreme Court banned sale of old and polluting Bharat Stage III or say BS-III vehicles. Now Auto Companies started a heavy discount on bikes, trucks, buses and three-wheelers.
Auto dealers are giving three to four fold discounts compared to other situation. As Companies want to liquidate BS-III inventory. From 1st April 2017, BS-III Vehicles will be banned.
India’s second largest domestic two-wheeler company Honda is offering discount of up to Rs 22000 on CBR 250 and CBR 150. While on other bikes, company is offering discount of Rs 18500. Well, Honda is having the second largest unsold vehicles with BS-III and it is around 1,50,000 units.
India’s largest two-wheeler company Hero Motocorp is offering discounts of Rs 12500 along with free insurance. As per reports, Hero is having the largest stock off BS-III vehicles, around 2,00,000 units.
Bajaj Auto, India’s third largest two-wheeler seller will take back all the unsold unit of motorcycle. Then they will export it to markets where BS-III is in practice.
Many truck and bus dealers are giving discounts between 4 to 12 percent as per the order size.
Ashok Leyland said, “There is a general discount of 4-5 percent with can go up by another 1-2 percent depending on the order on the BS-III stock. We have had good support from the manufacturer. We are focussed on liquidating our current inventory and based on the unsold stock as of March 31 we will take a call on what needs to be done with it”.
Tata Motors is India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer and they are having the biggest stock of unsold BS-III inventory. It is around 30000 units which worth between Rs 3500 to 4000 Crore.
Yesterday Supreme Court announced ban on BS-III vehicles from 1st April 2017. And buyers can register BS-III vehicle after 1 April if they have proof of purchase dated before 1 April.
As per earlier data, submitted to Supreme Court, there were more than 600000 two-wheelers, 95000 commercial vehicles and 30000 three-wheelers unsold BS-III stock with manufacturers and dealers.
