India’s IT Hub Bengaluru becomes the first Indian city to get its own logo. The state government took this step to promote Bengaluru city as a tourist destination.
Bengaluru city logo is derived from its name with highlighted letters B, E and U in red and other letters in white. The logo ‘Be U’ shows the cosmopolitan culture of the city. The state government launched logo on Sunday. After Amsterdam and New York, Bengaluru has joined the line.
Bankers-turned-designers Rushi Patel and M Venkateswara Rao designed the logo of Bengaluru. They are the founders of Nammur, a design firm.
Karnataka Stare government unveiled the logo during Bengaluru Habba. It is an open street festival in front of state assembly structure of Vidhan Soudha.
Nammur design start-up won the contest which was held by the state government and received a prize money of Rs 5 lakh from the government.
Others present at the event were Bengaluru development minister K J George, Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao, Shantinagar MLA NA Haris, and Bengaluru mayor R Sampath Raj. Notably, the city has been in headlines recently for frothing lakes, garbage crisis and crumbling infrastructure.
