Today, A Special TADA Court – Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act convicted Abu Salem and 5 others for the 1993 Mumbai Blasts case.
All Seven accused Abu Salem, Mustafa Dossa, Karimullah Khan, Firoz Abdul Rashid Khan, Riyaz Siddqui, Tahir Merchant and Abdul Quayyum had been separated from the main case as they were arrested at the time of conclusion of main trial.
Earlier TADA dropped some charges against Abu Salem in 2013 when CBI moved a plea. Abu Salme and Mustafa Dossa are the key accused in 1993 Mumbai Blasts case. In 1993 Mumbai Blasts, total 257 people killed and 713 seriously injured.
TADA court held a second leg of the trial in the serial blasts case. The court will declare the sentence on Monday, 19 June 2017.
Under various sections of the IPC, Dossa was convicted for charges of conspiracy and murder. While Abu Salem found guilty for transporting weapons from Gujarat to Mumbai before the blasts.
Abu Salem had also handed over weapons to actor Sanjay Dutt. He was accused for illegally possessing weapons AK 56 rifles, 250 rounds and some hand grenades at his residence on 16 January 1993.
Salem was extradited from Portugal in 2005 and Dossa from the UAE. TADA court also convicted Mohammed Tahir Merchant, Karimullah Khan, Riyaz Siddiqui and Feroze Abdul Rashid Khan. Abdul Qayyum has been acquitted in the case.
During 1993 Mumbai Blasts case, it was a series of 13 blasts through various locations of Mumbai on 12 March 1993. A serial blast took place at locations including Air India Building, Bombay Stock Exchange, Zaveri Bazar, then existing five star hotels, Hotel SeaRock and Hotel Juhu Centaur, and others leading to public and private property worth Rs. 27 crore damaged.

In the first leg of trial, concluded in 2007, the anti-terrorism court had convicted 100 people. In 2015, Yakub Memon was hanged for this case.
The court recorded statements of around 750 witnesses and 50 other witnesses. Abu Salem and other two had confessed to their crime during investigations over the years.
