PM Narendra Modi flagged off Run for Unity on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary today morning. At Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi, PM Modi along with President Ram nath Kovind and other Ministers flagged off the Run for Unity.
Also, PM Modi posted a video on Twitter with caption, ‘We salute Sardar Patel on his Jayanti. His momentous service and monumental contribution to India can never be forgotten.’
Today is also a death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. PM Narendra Modi also paid tribute to her. BJP is arranging Run for Unity marathon at district and taluka levels in Gujarat on 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
Today early morning at 7 am, PM Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Home Minister Rajnath Singh paid a floral tribute to Sardar Patel.
At the Run for Unity flag off ceremony, some sports persons Dipa Karmakar, Sardara Singh, Suresh Raina, Karnam Malleswari were present.
Earlier, in his radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ PM Modi had said that Patel used both negotiations and the might of the armed forces, where required, to bring India together under one constitution.
