Diwali or Deepavali is the festival of lights. It is the biggest festival of Hindu community. It marks the end of a year. The next day to Diwali is the new year as per Hindu calendar. This year, Diwali festival will be celebrated on 19 October 2017, Thursday.

Diwali festival celebration starts from Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi. As India is diversified country, everyone celebrates Diwali with lot of joy.

Bhaiya Dooj (Bhai Beej): 21st October 2017, Saturday

On the day of Diwali, people performs Laxmi Puja at their homes as well as at work places. On this day, ink bottle, pens and new account books are worshipped.

The most favorable time to do Diwali Puja is after sunset. The time period after sunset is known as Pradosh. Therefore, no other Diwali Puja Muhurat is as good as Puja Muhurat during Pradosh.

For Diwali festival, all people do shopping of cloths and gold ornaments, which they wear before goddess Laxmi pujan. Children and all the ages of people burnt firecrackers to enjoy the day. Flowers, sweets, food, amongst others are some of the ways in which people try to start a fresh and welcome a new year of happiness.
