Congress Flies 44 MLAs to Bengaluru after BJP took away 6 in Gujarat

Congress Flew to Bengaluru with 44 MLAs from Gujarat

After losing 6 MLAs in Gujarat, Congress took a quick decision to fly all 44 MLAs to Bengaluru. Friday night, Congress Gujarat flew more than 30 MLAs from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru.

The Party made this decision after accusing the BJP for horse-trading and use of money, muscle and state power. Gujarat Congress’ Arjun Modhwadia said that it was a question of security of MLAs.

Around 10:30 pm, Congress MLAs bus reached Ahmedabad airport from where they all left for Bengaluru in 11:45 pm flight.

All MLAs will be there for at least a week with Gujarat Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki. All MLAs would be present on the day of the Rajya Sabha elections which will be held on August 8, 2017.

Also 8 MLAs missed the flight to Bengaluru which include Shankersinh Vaghela’s loyalists his son. Few days’ back Shankersinh Vaghela quitted Congress. His Son Mahnedrasinh Vaghela is a MLA of Bayad.

BJP President Amit Shah and Union Minister Smriti Irani have filled up their forms for the Gujarat election. While Congress has again fielded Ahmed Patel, Sonia Gandhi for third seat.

Now, after 6 MLAs’ resignation from Congress, the Gujarat Assembly strength came down to 176. A Candidate will need 44 votes to win as per the current strength of the assembly. BJP has 121 MLAs in the assembly.

AICC general secretary in charge of Gujarat, Ashok Gehlot, rushed to Ahmedabad from Jaipur and Ahmed Patel too was camping there.

Also Congress alleged that BJP spent crores of rupees to buy their MLAs and they got information that at least 2 more MLAs could resign in next 24 hours.

BJP general secretary in charge of Gujarat, Bhupender Yadav said, “It is an internal fight of the Congress. People want to leave the Congress. One section appears to be keen to defeat Ahmed Patel in the Rajya Sabha elections.”

Congress MLAs Thasra MLA Ramsinh Parmar, Balasinor MLA Mansinh Chauhan and Vansda MLA Chhana Chaudhary submitted their resignations to Speaker Ramanlal Vora.

They told reporters they would decide their future course of action in the next few days. The three MLAs who resigned Thursday — Tejashreeben Patel, Balwantsinh Rajput and Prahlad Patel — have already joined the BJP.
