Gujarat Assembly elections are coming soon as the current assembly in Gujarat, expires in December 2017. After Anandiben Patel resigned from the post of Chief Minister in August 2016, Vijaybhai Rupani became the CM of Gujarat.

So after taking charges as chief minister, he allocated portfolios to his council of Minister. He himself kept the home department.

In 2012 Assembly elections of Gujarat, BJP won and Narendra Modi became CM for the third consecutive time. But in 2014 Lok Sabha election, Narendra Modi won and became Prime Minister of India. So Anandiben Patel took the charge as Chief Minister of Gujarat.
