Vibrant Gujarat 2017: 14 Years Old Student Signed Rs 5 Crore MoU for Drones

Today it’s a last day of 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017. One 14-years-old boy created a buzz with signing Rs 5 crore-worth MoU with the state Government. Ahmedabad’s 14-year-old Harshwardhan Zala designed drone and government signed MoU with him.

Harshwardhan signed a deal with Department of Science and Technology of Gujarat for the production of the drones. These drones will help detect and defuse land mines in war. Studying in class 10, Harshwardhan is working on his business plan. He has also made three prototypes of his drone.

Harshwardhan Zala said, “The inspiration struck when I was watching television and learned that a large number of soldiers submit to injuries sustained due to landmine blasts while defusing them manually,”

Harshwardhan’s parents gave Rs 2 lakh for the first two prototypes while he got Rs 3 lakh from the state Govt. for the third prototype.

He also explained the working and mechanism of his drone to destroy land mines. Harshwardhan’s drones has been equipped with Infrared, RGB sensor and thermal meter with 21MP camera. It also has mechanical shutter that will capture HD photos.

The drone can send out waves that cover 8 Sq. mt. area while flying 2-feet above the land. This waves detect land mines and notify the location with a base station. This drone also carries a bomb of 50-gram weight which can be used to destroy landmine.

Harshwardhan Zala has already registered for a patent and also set up his company ‘Aerobotics’. He said, “I started making drones on my own and set up an interface with a base station but realised I need to do more. So I fixed payloads that detect landmines. I have several other plans that I want to execute once the patent for this drone is registered.”

He is studying in Sarvoday Vidhyamandir in Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad. As he said he has always been encouraged by his parents. His father is Pradhyumansinh Zala and mother is Nishaba Zala. Pradhyumansinh is an accountant in Naroda while his mother is a homemaker.

Harshwardhan has visited Google Headquarters in US where he shared his project idea with investors. He won a US trip prize for innovation event at LD College of Engineering. He wants to make his company bigger than Google and Apple.
