Here Comes a Great news for Gujarati people and especially for Rajkotians…
Soon Rajkot will have an International Airport. Gujarat state government initiated the project for the international airport. Currently Gujarat is having two international airports, in Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
Very Soon State Government will start prefeasibility study for the location of Rajkot International Airport. New International Airport will be located at Kuvadva which is almost 20 Km far from Rajkot city. This new international airport will require 1200 hector land area.
On 22nd October 2016, PM Modi inaugurated Vadodara International Airport which is a second green airport of India after Kochi airport. Government is also developing Green Airport in Dholera near Ahmedabad. It will provide international connectivity to Dholera SIR and also GIFT city.
Now International Airport in Rajkot will provide International connectivity to Saurashtra people. Rajkot domestic airport is not having hangar facility. The prefeasibility study for new international airport will cost around Rs 1 Crore.
Rajkot Airport is the busiest airport in Saurastra region and third busiest in Gujarat after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and Civil Airport Harni. Rajkot is the Engineering hub and busiest city in Saurashtra. This city is connected with so many industries. so this International airport will ease the travelling of businessmen as well.
So with this airport, Gujarat will have total of 3 International airports in the state.
