Vadodara International Airport: PM to Open India’s Second Eco-Friendly Airport

India’s second eco-friendly airport in Vadodara will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd October, 2016.

Chairman of AAI, Guruprasad Mohapatra said that, “Construction of the new terminal building is part of the Centre’s efforts to remodel existing airports and develop them at par with international standards.”

He also said that, “The new terminal building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 160 crore and it will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd October, 2016.”

About India’s Second Eco-Friendly Airport:

After Ahmedabad airport, Vadodara airport is second number largest airport in Gujarat. New eco-friendly airport in Vadodara is spread over an area of 17,500 square meters. With 18 check-in counters, it has a capacity to manage as many as 700 passengers including 200 international passengers during peak hours.

The new terminal is a unique steel structure which is designed as per the advanced building management system. Also food court will serve delicious food to both passengers and visitors.

This new terminal building has a wide parking facility for approximately 230 cars, 100 Taxis and 10 coaches. Vadodara city is being an important industrial, cultural and educational hub of western India that attracts visitors from parts of India and also from abroad.

In 2015-16, more than nine lakh passengers travelled from current available airport at Vadodara. The number of passengers observers an increase of 30 per cent every year.
