Indian Railway to Introduce Glass Ceiling Coaches Soon

Indian Railway has a good news for passengers. As Soon Railway passengers will travel in luxurious coaches with Glass ceiling. The new glass top coaches in train will also have infotainment system like Switzerland.

From December 2016, People can get chance to travel in glass topped coaches. IRCTC Chairperson and MD AK Manocha said, “These coaches will have rotatable chairs to provide the passengers an aerial view. The coaches also have ample leg space and are also equipped with state-of-the-art infotainment systems”.

Indian Railway’s this step will promote the tourism. It will also upscale the tourists from India as well as from Foreign.


Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory in consultation with the IRCTC and the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) will jointly design the glass top coaches. It will cost Rs 4 Crore per coach.

At the launching phase, first coaches will be started in Kashmir in a regular train. While 2 others will be for trains in the Araku Valley in Vishakhapatnam.

The corporation’s group general manager Dham Ghaj Prasad said the coaches would rival the best in the world.
