Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has been appointed as Brand Ambassador for Samajwadi Pension Yojna or Samajwadi Pension Scheme by the UP government aimed at empowering the state’s financially poor women.
Vidya Balan said that this monthly pension scheme is an essential step towards women empowerment. According to Vidya Balan, empowering women is relevant and important as womenfolk not only work for their own development, but also for their whole family.
Earlier actress Vidya Balan has been roped in many government initiatives at the both the Central and State level that include “ghar-ghar shauchalya” campaign of Union government that shows importance of general cleanliness and having toilets in village homes.
Akhilesh Yadav expressing gratitude to Vidya Balan for agreeing to be associated with this scheme. And said that as many people know the film actress Vidya Balan, the scheme is certain to get more publicity and become popular, especially in rural areas.
CM Akhiles Yadav also said that he is slowly learning the importance of actual PR activities and having celeb brand ambassadors for UP government’s initiatives, many of which, though promoting the people, did not get the desired publicity in the media and somewhere else in the past.
Actress Vidya Balan said that she was very happy to be face of this scheme. It will bring about a change in the lives of women. Under this pension scheme the State government is suggesting to directly transfer into the bank accounts of beneficiary-women of 55 lakh families a sum of Rs. 500 monthly.
Stressing that the scheme shows his government’s commitment and fears for the poor, helpless and the needy, he also expressed expectation that it would help in improving the economic, social, educational and healthcare indices and women would take full advantage of it.
