Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced free distribution of free smartphone will be started from mid-2017. He said yesterday, on 5th September 2016, that free smart phone will be delivered only if the Samajwadi Party (SP) government comes back to power after Vidhan Sabha election 2017.
Taking a dig at PM Narendra Modi’s Digital India Scheme, Akhilesh Yadav said that it was the Samajwadi Party government that had delivered a maximum number of free laptops.
CM Akhilesh Yadav said, “World’s largest free laptop distribution scheme was started by us. Over 18 lakh laptops were distributed. Now, we promise to distribute free smartphones if we come back to power after Vidhan Sabha election 2017.”
The UP Government said that online registration for free smartphone will start within one month. According to UP government statement, “The recipients of the scheme will be those who work in the private sector and whose annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh. Those whose parents have government jobs are not eligible. The selection process will be transparent and the smartphone will be delivered at the recipient’s entrance.”
This scheme should be applicable for 18 years old people and resident of Uttar Pradesh. Free Smartphone will be delivered on first come first serve basis and this scheme is only applicable for high school certified students.
According to government statement, free smartphone will be a medium for two way communication between government and UP public. It will be prepared with all the latest mobile application.
It will be of use for the country public, youth, students and small time business. Akhilesh Yadav recalled that his government had successfully delivery about 18 lakh free laptops in a transparent manner and similarly, the smart phones to be distributed under the scheme will be of good quality and the process will be corruption-free.
