There is four year ban imposed on Wrestler Narsingh Yadav by Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). The Indian Olympic Association has said that the embattled wrestler Narsingh Yadav has been “beaten by compatriots” rather than opponents.
The Indian Olympic Association has engaged an advocate to represent Narsingh Yadav at the hearing before the CAS. The hearing has been held at the ad hoc office of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Rio 2016 on Thursday, 18th august, 2016 at 1 pm. But Narsingh Yadav won’t be present for the hearing.
On Wednesday, 17th August, 2016 night, Gupta told reporters that, “It’s unfortunate that the WADA chose to appeal so late against a decision by the National Anti-Doping Agency in India to allow Narsingh Yadav to enter the competition.”
Gupta also said that, “Narsingh had come here only following NADA’s permission and the IOC and United World Wrestling’s approval. We then approached the Rio Olympic Consolidating Committee and filled in his entry form after they gave the green light. Now, we have to wait and see what happens at the hearing at CAS.”
On Tuesday, 16th August, 2016, Brij Bhushan Singh had told IANS that the CAS will hear WADA and take into account India’s stand on the matter.
Brij Bhushan Singh also said that, “Our lawyer has already recognized the WADA letter. We will put up a strong security for Narsingh Yadav. Narsingh has a good chance of getting cleared.”
Narsingh Yadav was favored over Sushil by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to participate in the Games that powered a major legal fight between the two grapplers.
But the Delhi High Court discharged his appeal on 6th June that clearing Narsingh Yadav’s path.
