Vijay Rupani Takes Oath as Chief Minister of Gujarat with 24 Ministers

Gujarat’s new elected CM Vijay Rupani became officially 16th Chief Minister of Gujarat. Former BJP Gujarat President Vijay Rupani was elected as new CM of Gujarat, after Anandiben Patel’s resignation. On Sunday, 7th August 2016, Vijay Rupani took oath as 16th Chief Minister of Gujarat and Nitin Patel sworn in as Deputy CM.

Gujarat CM Swearing-in ceremony was held at Mahatma Mandir convention centre in Gandhinagar. Gujarat Governor O P Kohli directed oath taking ceremony of Gujarat CM, deputy CM and other ministers.

BJP Leaders were present at the sworn in ceremony including BJP President Amit Shah, L K Advani, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Science and tech. Minister Harsh Vardhan.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani’s total council of ministers including deputy CM is 25. New council of ministers of Gujarat has total 8 Patel leaders in cabinet while Anandiben Patel’s top 8 leaders are dropped.

On Saturday, 6th August 2016, Vijay Rupani had met the Gujarat Governor to stake claim to form the new government, a day after he was elected by BJP MLAs as their leader.

Gujarat former CM Anandiben Patel was unhappy with selection of Vijay Rupani as new CM. PM Narendra Modi had interfered in that situation after which Anandiben Patel attended the oath taking ceremony.
