PM Narendra Modi also said that, “Violence, cruelty have no place in India”
On Monday 15th August 2016, PM Modi said in his 70th Independence Day speech address from the Red Fort in Delhi said that, “Social unity is also significant. 125 crore people of India are part of one family. We all have to fight against social evils, have to support social justice. Great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Ambedkarji have always stressed on the need for social unity.”
PM Narendra Modi lauded the efforts of all the untold people who made great expenses to give India independence in 1947.

PM Narendra Modi explained that, “Our freedom did not come easy, we remember Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Pandit Nehru and untold other men and also women who sacrificed their lives so that we attain swarajya. Therefore, it is imperative swarajya becomes surajya and that can only happen with good authority.”
PM Narendra Modi also talked about the passage of the GST (Goods and Service Tax) Constitional Amendment which was currently passed by Parliament.
Narendra Modi talked about Goods and Service Tax and also said that, “Goods and Service Tax (GST) will give strong point to the economy and all parties are to be acknowledged for it being passed. One nation, one grid and one price- we have worked on this.”
In other successes Narendra Modi named the Aadhar card, built toilets, and getting villages electricity connections, among other things.
He also said that, “We have connected 70 crore Indians to Aadhaar and the social security scheme. In such a short time we have built two crore toilets so that now more than 70,000 villages are open-defecation free.”
