Dalit Rally in Ahmedabad 2016 : Dalits pledge not to pick up Dead Animals Bodies


Dalit rally was held in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 31 July 2016. There were more than 5000 dalit community people gathered in Sammelan to show their strength and to give a message that their community will not accept any kinds of atrocity by upper castes.

Dalit Boy Yogesh Sarikhada had consumed pesticide in against of cow skinning issue of Una city and he got died in Hospital. Gujarat’s dalit community people also take a pledge to not to pick up dead animal’s bodies.

Muslim community people are in support of Dalits for protesting against Una Cow Skinning incident at a convention in Ahmedabad.

The person who died, his family members have demanded action and CBI investigation in the case and they would sit on ‘Dharna’ from Monday, 1st August 2016 at Sector 3 in Gandhinagar. At Sammelan in Acher Depo ground in Sabarmati area, Dalits appealed for unity in the fight against injustice and atrocities.

In some parts of Gujarat like Surendranagar, Mehsana district, Dalits have stopped picking up dead animals and forcing local authorities to do that work.

Dalit Community have also demanded for land and 6th pay commission benefits to Dalit sanitation workers from Gujarat state Government. Dalit Protestors also required the invocation of prevention of Anti-social activities act against the Una Case victims. They have also demanded for a ban on their entry into 4 Dalit dominated districts of Gujarat.

Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Hind Gujarat (JeUHG) organizations’ activisits joined Una Ladat Samiti (ULS) in the Sammelan. “Dalit Muslim Bhai Bhai” shouts were given. “Hindu-Muslim Ekta Zindabad… Comwad Murdabad!” shouted ULS convener Jignesh Mevani.
