On 21 June 2016, International Yoga Day, the Gujrat state is attempting to set the world record for biggest yoga human sequence with participation of 8,000 persons at GMDC Ground on Tuesday.
The state-level celebration at the ground, where the governor and chief minister Anandiben patel would also participate, would have a total of 70,000 participants at GMDC ground performing yoga. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, state education minister and coordinator for the event, told media on Saturday that last year 1.09 crore persons had participated in the Yoga Day celebrations.
Bhupendrasinh said,”This year, we are targeting to 1.25 crore participants across 40,000 locations in the state. The practitioners would perform yoga at iconic locations such as top of mount Girnar, Sun Temple in Modhera, Kadana dam, and Lakhota Lake in Jamnagar, among others. Fourteen organizations are supporting the event, and 900 trainers have been coached for the event in Ahmedabad”
At the time of congratulating the participants at GMDC ground on the International Yoga Day. Chief Minister Anandiben said, “It is very important to learn yoga and understand its meaning in maintaining a healthy body and mind. I am going to ask all the state officers to take out time on every Sunday for yoga. They can contribute promoting yoga by learning it at their nearest public garden and community center”
