Mamata Banerjee has taken sworn in as West Bengal CM for a second term. On 27 May 2016, Mamata Banerjee sworn in as West Bengal Chief Minister in the biggest oath ceremony West Bengal has seen till date. Many politicians, chief ministers were present at the swearing in ceremony.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Bihar’s Lalu Prasad Yadav and Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the BJP’s minister Babul Supriyo from Bengal were present at the oath taking ceremony.
“It is like the coronation of the Queen of Bengal. This cannot be the coronation of the Chief Minister. The kind of money that is being spent…I think the Queen of England would be put to shame,” said the BJP’s Chandra Bose.
Mamata Banerjee was consistently elected as the Chief Minister of the WB state for the second consecutive term. People chose her for her ground-based development of rural Bengal, almost similar to Tamil Nadu’s Jaya amma’s USP.
There was a tennis court size stage was set where Mamata Banerjee and her 41 representatives attended the oath taking. 18 of them are new. Arrangements have been made to accommodate 35,000 attendees. A VVIP lounge with air-conditioner, a green landscaped garden and a fountain adorn the front of the stage.
