Vivo IPL season 9 2016 has reached to qualifier stage. Four qualifier teams will play their final games. First 2 finalists Gujarat Lions and royal Challengers Bangalore player their Qualifier match on 24 May 2016, Tuesday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Gujarat Lions team played quite good but they lost in the last. Royal Challengers Bangalore team won the toss and decided to bowl first and that was not good news for Gujarat Lions. Gujarat Lions had poor performance in powerplay as they lost 3 wickets and could score only 23 runs.
GL vs RCB Qualifier 1 IPL 2016:
Royal Challengers Bangalore 159 for 6 (de Villiers 79*, Abdulla 33*, Kulkarni 4-14, Jadeja 2-21)
Gujarat Lions 158 (Smith 73, Watson 4-29, Abdulla 2-38)
by four wickets
After losing top orders, Dwayen Smith scored 73 runs and GL team could score 158 runs in 20 overs. Just 158 runs were seems like easy to chase for RCB as they have Virat Kohli, the best chaser and AB De Villiers in form. But RCB team also was in struggle time as they lost Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle at early stage and they have lost total of 6 wickets in 10 overs.
AB de Villiers was the specialist batsman and when Iqbal Abdulla joined him in the 10th over, they needed 91 to win off 62 balls with four wickets in hand. At the 10th over of RCB’s chasing, the game was totally in the trolley of Gujarat Lions, even after 15 overs — it looked like RCB was out of it.
But AB de Villiers’s had it in him to bring the game home single-handedly. Iqbal Abdulla supported well to AB de Villiers till the end, and even knocking the winning runs too. Gujarat Lions bowler Dhawal Kulkarni took 4 wickets but his all work went in vein as they lost the game. Dhaval took the most important wickets of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli.
It is the Gujarat Lions who will get one more chance and meet RCB again if they survive the Eliminator.
