World Health Day 2016 : Beat Diabetes – Tips to Reduce Risk of Diabetes

7th April is celebrated as World Health Day at every year. The World Health Day is celebrated by World Health Organization (WHO) throughout the world. This year, the World Health Day 2016 theme is “Beat Diabetes”. The Diabetes is only caused from eating habits, stress and lack of physical activity. So today is the World Health Day 2016.

There is a different theme for World Health Day on each year. On this year’s theme is Diabetes. Now the question arises in your mind that why this year’s theme is Diabetes? So Diabetes is rising dramatically. Diabetes is for life long. It is only because people’s blood sugar (glucose) level to become too high.

The two common forms of diabetes are type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is not preventable while the latter one can often be avoided. But by healthy lifestyle we can reduce the risk of Diabetes.


India leads the Diabetes epidemic in the world. There 66.5 million people living with Diabetes in India. In 2014, 422 million adults (or 8.5 percent of the population) had diabetes, compared with 108 million (4.7 percent) in 1980. Diabetes is rising fastest in the world’s low- and middle-income countries. In 2012, diabetes caused 1.5 million deaths. Higher-than-optimal blood glucose levels caused an additional 2.2 million deaths, by increasing the risk of cardiovascular and other diseases.

So it will be better that you save yourself from Diabetes. You can reduce the risk of Diabetes through the living simple life style. The number of people are unaware about they are Diabetic. Many people do not know the common symptoms of Diabetes. There common signs of Diabetes such as frequent urination, increased hunger and thirst, unexplained weight loss and burned vision.

Diabetes can damage your kidney or cardiovascular diseases. The Diabetes can detect through the simple blood test. If your glucose level indicate you are borderline Diabetic, then you need to take immediate action about Diabetes and stop it to processing.

For normal life style you have to do well balanced diet. You have to eat protein food such as dal, soya, pulses, low fat milk products like yogurt, milk and paneer. The regular exercise is required for controlling your glucose level. There 30 minutes of walk will reduce the risk of diabetes by 1/3.

Overweight people have to decrease their weight with their doctor’s help. They have to maintain their weight and if necessary consult a dietician. Nowadays youngers are doing smocking and eating tobacco. So guys don’t eat tobacco and avoid smocking as these habit can increase the risk of Diabetes.
