Earth Hour 2016 will be celebrated on Saturday, 19 March 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m, local time. In India, Earth Hour 2016 event will focus on the importance of solar energy as a renewable source of power. Earth Hour is calling on citizens across the country to support not only the campaign by switching off non-essential lights for the hour, but also the government’s pledge to move toward renewable energy for a sustainable future.
India is the country where approx. 300 days are sunny days in a year so we can make around 5000 trillion kWh of energy per year from the solar energy which is much more than India’s total annual energy requirement.

WWF-India’s Earth Hour campaign advocates a solar-powered future by urging its supporters to “go solar”. Known as ‘Gabbar’, Indian Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is the brand ambassador of Earth Hour India 2016 Campaign.
Shikhar Dhawan said, “I believe climate change is the biggest global problem that we face today. It is a problem that we need to solve together. Like cricket, Earth Hour brings people together. I would urge people to come together and find newer, smarter ways to help save the planet.”
He also asked cricket fans all over the country to switch off all other non-essential lights for the hour and watch the historic India Pakistan T20 ICC World Cup match scheduled for 19 March in the dark and said, “As we chase our dream of becoming World Champions again, we are counting on you to help us realize our dream of a greener planet! Let’s stand together against climate change.”

Ink-black darkness filled the street and fear filled my heart. As far as one could see there was coal-blackness. Not a human face, nor a flicker of light could be seen. And then the strangest sound of ankle-bells….Have a horror show at your own place and cook up the scariest stories to run a chill down everyone’s spine!
None of your friends know till now how brilliant a party-thrower you are! And how innovative too! Who, but you, could have thought of throwing a party under the moonlight, out in the park with your friends and family? Be environment-friendly and use your own crockery and cutlery which you can wash back at home.
Candle-Light Dinner: We know it’s an old idea. But it’s for you, the die-hard romantic, who loves a serene, calm and peaceful dinner over anything else!
