Bollywood Dimple Queen Deepika Padukone will launch a Mental Health Campaign named ‘You are not Alone’ to fight against depression. Last year, she confessed to have been suffering from Depression. ‘XXX: The Return of Xander Cage’ Hollywood movie actress had come out openly last year about her struggle with depression and talked about a lack of awareness and social shame attached to it is set to launch on March 23 an year-long awareness campaign ‘You Are Not Alone’ to take forward her fight.
Deepika stated, “Last year, I spoke about my own fight with depression as I felt I could not just sit by and watch as people who were going through what I had gone through. So, we decided to launch ‘You Are Not Alone’ with an idea to raise awareness and to enable students and teachers to identify signs of anxiety and depression,”
The mental health programme titled ‘You Are Not Alone’ will be launched on Wednesday, 23rd March 2016. It will focus on educating high school students and teachers on stress, anxiety and depression, while also aiming to reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health.
Starting with Deepika’s own school Sophia’s High School in Bengaluru, the awareness campaign will cover over 500 schools in the year. The programme has been scheduled to begin in a few schools in March with the bulk of the programmes lined up for June when the new academic session starts.
Under ‘You Are Not Alone’ campaign, Deepika Padukone also plans to extend the awareness campaign to colleges and corporates in the years to come. Deepika Padukone is launching ‘You are not Alone’ campaign under her NGO ‘The Live Love Laugh Foundation’ (TLLLF).
‘Tamasha’ actress Deepika has also joined hands with David Liano, Guinness World Record holding mountaineer. David Liano will climb the Mt Everest carrying Padukone’s ‘Live Love Laugh Foundation’ flag to support people fighting depression and spread the message of mental health.
