Make in India week is an initiative of the Government of India to encourage multi-national, as well as domestic, companies to manufacture their products in India. A week that will spark a renewed sense of pride in Indian industry by showcasing the potential of design, innovation and sustainability across India’s manufacturing sectors in the coming decade. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014.
Make in India 2016 is held in Mumbai from 13th to 18th February 2016. Make in India is a major new national program designed to transform India into a global manufacturing hub. PM Narendra Modi launched Make in India Week 2016 on 13th February 2016, Saturday at NSCI, Worli.

Narendra Modi said that, “India is blessed with three Ds: Democracy, Demography and Demand. To this we have added another D – deregulation.” The Make in India Week 2016 aims to showcase the country as an international manufacturing destination. It will run till 18th February 2016.
Modi said to industrialists that, “My friendly advice to industrialists. Don’t wait. Don’t relax. There are immense opportunities in India.” Modi said that India is probably the most open country for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which has increased by 48 per cent since the BJP government came to power in May 2014. He said that, “I have been saying that this century is Asia’s century. My advice to you is to Make India your center; if you want this century to be your century. I invite everyone sitting here and also those not here, to be a part of India’s unfolding story.” Over 1,000 international and 8,000 Indian companies are participate in the exhibition.
