India’s first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi’s husband Brij Bedi died after brief illness in Gurgaon on 31st January 2016, Sunday. He was admitted at Medanta – The Medicity Hospital on 28th January for kidney and breathing problems.
Brij Bedi was suffering from cancer in the bladder which affected his kidneys too. Mr. Bedi was 76 year old. Kiran Bedi said that, “He was undergoing treatment for the past five months both in Amritsar and Delhi and He was airlifted from Fortis-Escorts in Amritsar and brought to Medanta – the Medicity Hospital on January 28 and admitted in the ICU”.
Mr. Bedi’s condition was weaken and he was shifted to the ICU. Doctors had already said that he died around 11 am today. He breathed his last around 11:00 AM in the hospital on 31st January 2016, Sunday. Brij Bedi was a Photographer and social activist. And he ran a school in Amritsar for underprivileged children. The couple who married on March 1972 and both have a daughter Saina.
Kiran Bedi posted a series of tweets paying tributes to her husband, after her husband’s death. She tweeted that “Amritsar has lost a man who loved his city the most. He was someone who spent his life addressing the cause of the needy. We will carry forward his service.”
