It is a great honour to be nominated as the cleanest city in India. As a part of the Swachh Bharat campaign, all the cities in India were ranked based on their cleanliness factor. The rankings are based on the extent of open defecation and solid waste management practices.
Thirty-nine cities from the southern states were among the top 100, followed by 27 from the east, 15 from the west, 12 from the north and seven from the north-Eastern states. Here we are giving list of the top cleanest cities in India.
Tiruchirappalli, formerly Trichinopoly in English, a.k.a. Tiruchirappalli stands on second in this list. Tiruchirappalli is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters if Tiruchirappalli District. It is the fourth largest municipal corporation and the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the state, located 322 kilometres south of Chennai.

Kochi, number four among the cleanest cities and also known as Kochin is major port city on the south west coast of India by the Arabian Sea and is part of the district of Ernakulam in the state of Kerala. It is a second largest city after the Mumbai.
Hassan is on number five. It is city and the district headquarters of Hassan district in the state of Karnataka.
It is on number six in the list. Mandya is a city in the state of Karnataka. Mandya is known as the land of sugar and rice and it is a promotional agricultural district, formed in the year 1939. Mandya city is arround 100 km from Bangalore and 40 km from Mysore city.
The seventh cleanest city is Bangalore. It is a capital of state of Karnataka. There population about 10.8 million in banglore, so making it the third most populous city and the fifth most populous urban agglomeration in India.
The ranked on number eight is Thiruvananthapuram. Formally known as Trivandrum. It is a capital city of Indian state of Kerala. Thiruvananthapuram is largest and the most populous city corporation in Kerala. It was referred to as the “Evergreen City of India” by Mahatma Gandhi himself.
The formerly known as Kumarhatta, It’s ranked on number nine in the list. It is a city.
Gangtok is on number ten of the cleanest city’s list. It is capital and largest town of the Indian state of Sikkim.
