PM Modi Flags Off Mahanama Express in Varanasi 2016

On Friday 22nd January, 2016 PM Narendra Modi had a visit to Varanasi. As Uttar Pradesh gears up for the 2017 assembly elections, Narendra Modi paid his first visit to the state capital Lucknow after becoming Prime Minister.

His aim to visit was to distribute aids and devices to the differently – abled people. The PM also flagged off the Mahamana Express through remote soon after reaching the function venue. Mahanama Express is now all set after inaugural flag off by PM Modi.

He showed Mahanama Express green signal. After that he distributed needy things to those who are handicapped. He also gave a speech on inauguration of Mahanama Express. Equipped with latest technological advancements, the train has LED lights and the coaches are purely designed considering the international comfort levels.

The superfast Mahanama Express from Varanasi, will travel from Varanasi to Delhi via Lucknow thrice a week. At the launch, Modi thanked Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for his contributions. Speaking at the launch, Modi said that the train will benefit all the passengers who want to travel to the holy city of Kasi and make their pilgrimage extremely comfortable.

He said, “Japan’s PM visited Varanasi some time back. I felt proud when I heard he spoke about it in detail at an event in Japan recently. I thank PM Shinzo Abe for the kind words of praise he used for Kashi and on the Ganga.”

The coaches were personally inspected by the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
