The 67th Republic Day parade was a display of India’s military strength and cultural diversity. 67th Republic Day Ceremony was held at Rajpath. The Republic Day 2016 parade began around 9:30 AM followed the flag hoisting at 9 AM.

Representatives of the Indian States took part in the parade to showcase the strengths of the state. French President Francois Hollande accompanied with President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several other dignitaries.
For the first time since 1950, a foreign army contingent marched down the Rajpath during the Republic Day parade. A 76 – member French Army contingent led by a French military band consisting 48 musicians marching on Rajpath presented a ceremonial salute to the President of India.
Army dogs appeared in Republic Day parade. During Republic Day parade every year, critical defence systems, artillery, and equipment ranging from tanks to missiles is brought out for public display. After 26 year, Indian Dog Amry, which has become major attraction, marched down the Rajpath on Republic Day.
The Army had selected 36 dogs out of total 1,200 Labradors and German Shepherds for the event. The celebration this year was 25 minute shorter than usual. The army jawans performing stunts on bikes are a major attraction during the parade and this year for the first time, an all – women stunt contingent also performed during the event.
This year, the VVIP enclosure had a motorised glass roof so as to protect them from rain and cold weather.
