Salman Khan Acquitted of All Charges in 2002 Hit-and-Run Case by Bombay High Court

Bollywood Actor Salman Khan will not go to jail in the 2002 hit-and-run case, the Bombay High Court said today, 10 December 2015 after hearing all witnesses and examining evidence produced.

December month which is also called ‘Salman Bhai’s Birthday month’ is proved lucky for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ star Salman Khan.

The Bombay High court, which had been reading out the verdict in the 13-year-old case since Monday, said the prosecution failed to establish that the actor Salman Khan was driving the car at the time of the accident or that he was under the influence of alcohol. The court has also directed Bandra Police to handover Salman’s passport to him. It also directed the actor to provide a new surety bond of Rs 25,000 within the next two weeks.

Salman Khan is proved innocent in the 2002 Hit and Run case on 10th December 2015, Thursday, crushing a trial court verdict that held him guilty of driving his Toyota Land Cruiser over people sleeping on a Bandra footpath.

On 6 May 2015, a sessions court in Mumbai had sentenced him to five years in prison. The loyal driver of Salman Khan took the blame for the accident after Salman was held guilty in May 2015, saying he was driving the car on that fateful night. The prosecution dismissed his confession as 13 years too late.
