Board of Control for Cricket in India – BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya passed away in Kolkata on 20th September 2015. Late Jagmohan Dalmiya was 75 years old and admitted to hospital for last 3 days in Kolkata. He Died around 9 pm on 20th September 2015. Jagmohan Dalmiya, who mad Indian cricket wealthy is survived by wife, daughter Vaishali and son Abhishek.
Mr. Dalmiya was hospitalized on Thursday evening after he complained of chest pain. An angioplasty was performed and he remained ‘stable’ for the next 3 days, before his condition worsened. He was involved with the BCCI for more than three decades, starting his journey as its treasurer in 1983 before becoming its secretary.
A businessman known for his marketing insight, Dalmiya was a key figure in bringing the 1987 and 1996 cricket World Cups to the sub-continent. He took over as BCCI president for a second time earlier this year, after a gap of nearly a decade, but had not been keeping well for the past few months.
He became president of the International Cricket Council in 1997 and held the post till 2000. He became BCCI president in 2001 and continued till 2004. He was instrumental in organising the World Cups in 1987 and 1996. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said he would be given a state funeral.
Dalmiya’s body will be brought to the CAB around noon on Monday and kept there till 3 pm for people to pay their last respect. His last rites will be performed in the evening.
