Sachin Tendulkar Assembled BMW at Chennai Plant – BMW India Joins Make in India Initiative

Indian Cricketer, Master Blaster, ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar visited BMW Plant Chennai where Sachin Tendulkar assembled BMW 5 Series Car so soon the BMW car lovers can own Sachin Tendulkar edition BMW 5 Series car. German Luxury Car Manufacturer BMW joined PM Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative.

Sachin Tendulkar talked to reporters also at the manufacturing of German luxury car maker BMW plant Chennai situated at 55 Km from Chennai at Mahindra World City, Singaperumalkoil. At the BMW plant Chennai, Sachin said, “It was a dream come true for me, a great opportunity. I never thought of being here. Being a car enthusiast, to actually understand what goes behind building a super world class car is amazing. I met all the 550 employees and felt the energy. It has been an enriching experience. Thank you very much for making this day special”.

Sachin Tendulkar assembled a BMW 5 Series car commemorating BMW India’s proposal to increase localisation level to 50 per cent in car making under PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.  BMW Chennai Plant Managing Director, Robert Fritrang invited Sachin Tendulkar for BMW Car Assemble.

Sachin Tendulkar Assembled BMW 5 Series Car at BMW Plant Chennai :

First, taking a spanner, Sachin Tendulkar fixed the propeller shaft with the car engine. Sachin and three other BMW India employees then pushed the table on which the engine was kept towards the car shell that was held by an assembly line conveyor. Once the engine was slotted in its place, Tendulkar then tightened another bolt to fix the two litre engine with the car shell.

Indian PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative has been taking the world by rapid speed, and today BMW India celebrated its commitment to the initiative by increasing the level of localisation at its facility in Chennai to 50 per cent.

BMW’s plant Chennai started operations on March 29, 2007. Up to 8 BMW models can be locally produced on the 2 assembly lines at the Chennai facility. For now, the BMW 1 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3 and the X5 are produced there. The plant currently employs 550 people and uses advanced machinery and technology to achieve Excellency.
