The youngest daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rajlakshmi married to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s grandnephew Tej Pratap Singh on 26 February 2015, Thursday.
President Pranab Mukharjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi were among a host of political leaders attending the wedding reception of Rajlakshmi and Tej Pratap Singh.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani were among those, besides Sonia Gandhi and PM Narendra Modi, who blessed the couple, Raj Laxmi and Tej Pratap Yadav. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Home Minister Rajnath Singh were also there.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was also there and sources said Modi had a brief chat with his ally-turned-rival. NCP President Sharad Pawar, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, JD(U) President Sharad Yadav apart from many Bihar and UP ministers were there.
The couple’s tilak ceremony on February 21 had also seen an impressive gathering, including that of Modi, in Safai, the SP President’s home town.
The pre-wedding ceremony of Tej Pratap Singh, Lok Sabha MP from Mainpuri, was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 21 at Saifai, the native village of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Bollywood Mega Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan had also attended the event.
Raj Lakshmi is youngest among the nine siblings. Besides, she is Lalu’s only child who was born after he became the Bihar chief minister in 1990.
