The Forbes India 2014 Celebrity 100 in its third year has found a highest earning Bollywood actor as Highest earning Indian celebrity, Salman Khan. For the first time in its three-year run, Shah Rukh Khan has been removed from the top slot by friend and noble Salman Khan.
The time period for Forbes India 2014 list was from October 2013 to September 2014. Salman Khan, meanwhile, has topped the charts, both in terms of revenues and fame – a first for a Forbes India celebrity list topper. Clearly, though controversy and court cases continue to dog the actor, his clout has only continued to grow with his box office hits, TV appearances and his charitable trust ‘Being Human’. Salman Khan had 2 movies in that period, ‘Kick’ and ‘Jai Ho’ and both movies were super hit.
While Shahrukh Khan had no movie release and only cameos in two three movies. Shahrukh Khan’s brand value earned him approx. Rs 202 Cr. With 22 such deals in hand, SRK has validated the highest number of brands this year. Celebrities are ranked on two counts – money and fame in the list
SRK’s fame rank dropped to seven, leaving his overall ranking at number 3. Salman was number 1 on both counts in 2014- another first. Amitabh Bachchan got overall 2nd rank, Perhaps it is because he has the highest number of fans in Bollywood, or his endorsement deals and film offers that earned him 196.75 crores.
Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni was ranked at number 4 in overall ranking with earnings of Rs 141.8 crore. His money rank was 5, while his fame rank was 3. With earnings of Rs 172 crore, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar rounded off the top 5.
